Super Moon

I didn't have a chance to get out and shoot the Super Moon this year, so here are a few shots from last year. These were taken as the sun set at Wellington Point Jetty.

GRATITUDE: A Belated Thanksgiving Post.

The 19th November marked 7 years since my car accident, which has challenged my life in so many ways.
If I had to pick the biggest thing that I have learned over the last 7 years, it would be that living in GRATITUDE every day is incredibly powerful and life changing. My focus has been not looking back on the past, not focusing on what was or could have been, but rather focusing on the blessings in my life on a daily basis. I cannot adequately convey the benefits that daily gratitude has had on my life.

2016 has been a year of enormous change in my own life and for us as a family. We have had huge breakthrough in reconciliation with my oldest son, who is now back in our lives but sadly his marriage has broken down. 4 weeks ago, we were given court ordered time with our 4 grandchildren on a weekly basis which has been wonderful! All of this has been a huge answer to our constant prayers!

"Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation." ~ Brian Tracy

"Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present." ~ Bill Keane

"Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse." ~ Henry Van Dyke Read

"Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." ~ Melody Beattie

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend." ~ Melody Beattie

Tweed Beauty

Earlier this year, Michael & I drove down to the Tweed Valley region of the far Northern NSW to visit friends. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, and were then treated to a "local's" guided tour of the area throughout the Tweed Range, which is part of the Great Dividing Range.

We explored the World Heritage wilderness of the Tweed Region, including quiet streams, the well known Tweed River, and charming little villages.

The Tweed River weaves its way from the coast, through the Northern Rivers region...

I could have sat here all day... The vista was breathtaking and incredibly serene.

As the sun began to set, it was difficult to decide where to stay...

The highest peak in the distance is the distinctive Mount Warning.

As the sun set, the sky was stunning against the lush green grass...

Next time, I plan to shoot sunset over the Tweed River. The entire area is absolutely gorgeous and definitely worth a few more day trips!

How often do you head out and surround yourself with nature??

Be Present in the Moment

Last month, Michael, myself and 3 of our adult daughters (still living at home), went on a week long holiday to Burleigh Heads on Queensland's Gold Coast. We had planned this "family" holiday over a year ago; everyone would contribute an equal share of the accommodation costs, food, etc. It was a much awaited and anticipated holiday; we were all looking forward to walks along the beach and headland, coffee dates, lunches of Acai bowls, Fathers Day celebrations on the Sunday with as many of our combined 9 children as possible, Michael's birthday celebrations, reading books, board games, and a well earned week-long rest and recharge for all who live at number 11!
The view from our 6th floor apartment.

Quite accidentally, we came up with a catch phrase for our time away:
"Be Present in the Moment".
This became a daily reminder that it was important as a family to 'be present' when we spend time together; Michael & I gave the girls the challenge to avoid using their mobile phones unless they were taking photos. This allowed us all to focus on the beauty of our surroundings, enjoy one another's company, engage fully in conversations and use our time at night to read books and play word games, rather than scroll through social media.

Headland walks around sunset provided the opportunity to soak in the beauty of God's creation while exercising together as a family.

The Burleigh Headland walk takes you all the way around to Tallebudgera Creek, with views out west to the mountains of the Tweed Range, part of the Great Dividing Range.

A fun day out whale watching with a photographer friend, in not-so-perfect conditions.

I'm not a morning person at all but I did manage a couple of sunrises.
